Retreating on the magical isle of Sark
One of my many lessons thus far this year, is never say never. While I had thought it was time for a change and I had taught my last Sark retreat, my students had other ideas and were quite determined that the Sark retreats should continue. And I have to be honest - I am grateful that they made it so.
The sun and the moon conspired too, and we were really fortunate to experience another amazing weekend on the magical Isle of Sark. And it really is magical; a huge crystal, vibrating with tons of prana and awash with spring flowers, the glorious weather of course helped, so too the beautiful waxing full moon, which peaked our last day.
To me, Sark is just heavenly, and lends itself beautifully to retreating. The ladies threw themselves deeply into the practice, going deeper still and the Reiki they received supported this, so too the cosmic forces, I am pretty sure we are all still trying to land. Stocks excelled themselves, always friendly, and the food was really impressive, especially for those who are gluten-free, a positive treat.
But it’s the island really, it gets right under the skin. I was delighted to find rose quartz on Grand Greve, and big lumps of it discarded in the centre of the island. The island used to be awash with Neolithic stones, now many are in hedge rows, but I did make it out to the dolmen with my stone-friend for the full moon and the stars were amazing despite the moonlight. It’s moments like this, out in nature, everyone else in bed, which one rarely forgets because the island is light spirited and it changes by night.
It was amazing in the day though too. The gorse is absolutely stunning at the moment, a real tonic for the soul, smells divine and as for the blue bells. I ventured back a few days later with the boys to immerse in it and even they appreciated how especially beautiful Sark looks in the Spring time, albeit the main focus of course was Buddy the dog, who has a new restaurant btw, great idea Tracey and Adie, can see it will be a hit this summer.
I was lucky to connect with the Sark yogis and yoginis too and Louise and Ana have been doing brilliant work there, there is now quite a yoga community and it was an honour to get to spend an hour or so sharing the Scaravelli-inspired approach. I am hopeful there will be more opportunity in the future - any excuse to get to Sark is very welcomed!
I am also delighted that one of my Reiki students, Paula, is now offering Reiki on the island, so if you are visiting then do try and get to a yoga class on the Tuesday night in the Island Hall, but also try and book a session of Reiki with Paula in the Venus Room at Stocks, as Sark’s energy lends itself so well to doing some deep healing in that magical valley, at least this was my experience working with the ladies on retreat, some old stuff came up, but maybe it was just time, but yet also place.
So a huge thank you to all your amazing ladies for encouraging me back to Sark - you were right, we’re not done yet - and for giving so much of yourselves and with such open hearts, it was inspiring and uplifting and just trying to come back to earth still, with fond memories of horses and yoga attire and just being light-hearted in our quest for greater consciousness!
I am delighted that so many of you will be joining me in October. We are back retreating 3-6th and if you are reading this and curious, then ping me an email at emma@beinspiredby.co.uk and I will send you the details before formally advertising the remaining four spaces, two or three nights, single or shared.
Thank you to the ladies for the photos, and for such a fab weekend.
Love Emma x
