Post-natal

The post-natal period can be extremely challenging to navigate. We are often exhausted and it feels as if our world has been turned upside down. If we have a tendency towards achievement and perfection and set ourselves high ideals, then we need to be especially gentle with ourselves.

The post-natal period can be messy as we let go of the life that we once lived and the manner in which we identified with it and adjust to a new way of living that is initially alien and unknown and occupies our every waking hour, and much of our sleeping hours too. We can easily become overwhelmed, exhausted and depressed, believing that we cannot cope and wondering how everyone else copes so easily in comparison so that we give ourselves a hard time and further depress our spirit.

We can also suffer birth trauma to the extent that our chakras are completely imbalanced and it can take time for this to heal, years sometimes, so please do be gentle. We may be keen to get back to exercising, to shift baby weight and to bring some normality back into our life again, but we should go gently with ourselves, especially if we lost blood during birth and are healing from the birth experience.

We offer these suggestions based on our own experience and understanding, but what works for one person doesn’t always work for the next. So please always work with your own intuition, keep checking in and doing what feels right for you on your path to better health.
