Yoni Shakti: Embracing Your Creativity Workshop

An exploration of the heart-womb space connection

The connection between the heart and the womb is both mysterious and yet very helpful when it comes to caring for ourselves as women from a holistic and conscious perspective.

The heart governs the blood and the uterus relies on blood for its function. Emotional stress, undigested life experiences and a restless mind can affect reproductive health through the heart-womb relationship.

It’s the intimate heart-womb connection that allows unprocessed experiences to be felt and held in the womb, far away from the sensitivity of the heart, for processing at a later time (there are other ways we protect our heart too). The womb is a very accessible storage space, intimately connected to blood, which holds emotions.

In its essence, the womb is a powerful place of transformation, bringing spirit into form, and a fertile void for dreams and stirrings of the heart. This is true regardless of whether we’ve still got a womb or not or if we’re still menstruating or have long passed menopause.

The mystery is living in each of us and those with a womb space have a certain ability to transform and (re)create the future that we dream of. This could mean growing new life, building a business, writing a book, creating a home or whatever dreams and seeds require the wisdom and softness of the womb space to manifest.

The first step to tending this sacred heart-womb connection is through our own embodied experience, knowing that we will hear the wisdom when we are willing to listen. It’s in this way that we can process whatever is held in the womb and free up energy and encourage greater vitality. In turn this may resolve menstrual irregularities and various gynaecological issues, overcome blocks around accessing pleasure, and also encourage our deeper creative impulse.

We’ll weave together various asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), mudra (hand gestures) to help expand our awareness of the heart-womb connection and gain insight and open to our deeper creative impulse – at least laying a seed for future blossoming.

Joining together in circle, the morning will look a little like this:

9:30am - 10:45am - Pranayama (breathing exercises), asana (postures), mudra (hand gestures)
10:45am – 11:15am - Kirtan with Katie (devotional mantra)

11:30am – 12pm - Yoga Nidra to connect heart and womb and moment to sit silently and let it all settle.

“By greeting the womb with love we not only reconnect to the shakti or life power in the womb or womb space, but also revive the loving energies of the heart by bringing them into conscious connection with the nourishing potential or the womb space energies.”
